Just a quick post : the first development snapshot of CAMSEG SCM 3.0, version Alpha 1 (or 2.99.70) is coming very soon. This is the first version of SCM using the new 3.x libraries as a base, which makes it much faster and easier to extend. Multi-peers functionnalities are also in this release.
CAMSEG SCM 2.99.70
No there won’t be any version 2.7, it has been replaced with a 3.0 version, because of the major changes coming in the next release. A lot of the code in the back-end (libCAMSEG) has been revised and ameliorated, with major changed to the API. Also, the new version will feature a total rewrite of the GUI. It will now be plugin based, and many versions will be provided (Full interface, Vendor interface, POS interface, inventory interface (on mobile devices ?), etc. Additionally, with the new MySQL back-end, it will be possible for multiple users to connect to a single campaign over a network at the same time.
The new version will also include iSCM, which is the new Web Interface (it replaces CWI, which was the Web Interface in version 1.2).
A release candidate should be available in mid-July.

Many changes will come with the release of SCM 2.7. First of all, the MySQL support as a backend will finally be finished. In addition to that, CWI (the CAMSEG Web Interface) will come back, with a brand new design. It will be renamed iSCM. It will be possible to sell products and PLUs to customers over the web, and customers will also have the possibility to enter discount codes, the same discounts created with CAMSEG SCM.

CAMSEG SCM 2.7 is currently under active development, but it should be available around June 1st.
The next release of CAMSEG SCM, 2.6, should be available in the next few weeks. These are the main new features introduced in this version.
Huge speed improvements
CAMSEG SCM’s execution speed has been dramatically increased with the correction of a major bug. This makes the application approximately 136x faster !
Financial Remix
All the items the Operations Overview have been redesigned to match real-life accounting terms. This new design is also mush more easier to understand and everyone should quickly get used to it.
Time Periods
The Time Periods are a snapshot of the campaign for an older time period. For example, if you want to have separate period for each month, you create a new time period every month. All the data currently in the campaign will be saved to the time period and the operations will be cleared for the current period. It’s not possible to modify a closed period, but all reports and charts can still be generated, with the new Browse Old Periods function.
Products can now be directly sold in orders
The orders can now contain products, if their Can Be Sold property is enabled. It’s very useful if you sell raw material. For example, if you want to sell rope, you can set the quantity of the product in the order to what you want, ex : 1m, or 45ft, etc.
Multiple level categories
The categories can now be organized in trees : a category contains child categories. It permits advances organization features.
Updates on discounts (discount triggers, discounts on Services and Products)
Many new features have been added to the discount :
Triggers : When a discount is applied, PLUs, products or services can be automatically added to the order.
Discount on Services and Products : The discounts can now be applied on Products and Services
Batch Processing
This new tool helps making large-scale changes. For example, if you want to change the price of 100 products, you can do it with just a few clicks instead of making the 100 changes.

After weeks of developpement, the Release Candidate version of CAMSEG SCM is almost ready. It will contain many new features since 2.2, such as :
CAMSEG SCM 2.3 Release Candidate
The next release of CAMSEG SCM 2.3 is currently under active developpement. It features a lot of new features since the current 2.2 version, such as :
New Lookup Dialog
There will be a Release Candidate version before the final release. This RC should be available in 2 or 3 weeks (around December 8th).
The next version of CAMSEG SCM is currently under developpement. This new version will focus on the Products, adding Discounts, Units and PLUs.
The ‘Products’ will be split in two objects : Products and PLUs. This will allow the creation of more complicated products (called PLUs in SCM 2.1), which can contain multiple products. Example : if you sell a chocolate cake (the PLU), you need multiple ingredients (the products) to make the cake : flour, chocolate, sugar, etc. Also, you need a specific quantity of each ingredient (ex : 3 eggs, 5 cups of flour, etc). That’s where the Units are useful. So, a PLU is like a ‘bundle’ of products.
The deliveries will contain Products, while the orders contains PLUs. Also, the quantity of Products will be represented as decimal values (ex : 2.5 kg of flour) as the PLU quantities will be integers (ex : it’s not possible to order a half book).
First oval, sorry for the long delay between the release of 1.2 and the upcoming 2.0, but I have been busy with final exams and work. Also, please note that version 1.3 has been canceled. Major bugs and inconsistencies were found in the release and I was working o too much versions (1.3 CAMSEG & CWI,libCAMSEG 2.0, CAMSEG GUI 2.0, CWI 2.0), so I decided to focus on 2.versions only. A few development version have already been released, but a lot of new stuffwas introduced in the past weeks, such as stock management, vendor pay, etc.
I also decided to re-think the UI of CAMSEG for 2.0. It will still work with tabs as 1.x, but with major improvements (see the screenshot below). It’s still long to get everything back in the release, so the next GUI release (2.0 Beta 1) should be avaible in about 2 weeks. I will also release another snapshot of libCAMSEG 2.0 in the next few days to show you the new features.
Current state of CAMSEG GUI v2 :
The release schedule of CAMSEG 1.3 has been changed. Due to some ‘mess’ in the back-end, a version 2.0 of CAMSEG with a new, cleaned and improved back-end has been planned. CAMSEG 1.3 is still the next release, but it will contain less features than planned. Also, there won’t be any Beta version, only a RC and a Final. Version 1.3 will still add several new features, such as :

Note that the back-end will not be in the front-end anymore. A separate library (libCAMSEG) will be created, and will be used by the front-end. Also, the Web Interface will now be object oriented, with a PHP separate back-end too. This separation between the back-end and front-end will create a flexible API to use , to ultimately being able to create alternatives front-ends for different usages. Ex: it will be possible to use CWI backend in an existing website, just having to use the methodes of the backend and integrate them into the website, without having to use the default CWI Interface.

The main goal of this release is to improve the Reports part of CAMSEG. This part had only received small changes in the previous releases, so I decided to have this part updated for this release.
